es inor Prabhu talks about how the house committee has supported the name change of a creek with a historically offensive name tying into times of slavery and racism.
Prabhu uses low diction throughout the article making it easy for anyone to understand and comprehend what is occurring. She also appeals to both ethos and logos because she establishes credibility by putting down the date and time for when the article was published and she appeals to logos by stating the senate resolution number and the historical context of the rivers name. She could also appeal to pathos because of how the name makes me feel whether it be uneasy or disgusted, for this point she includes Savannah state senator Lester Jackson when he says to another panel member that the creek name is offensive and local residents would like to call the waterway Freedom Creek (Paragraph 4). Prabhu’s purpose as the author is to spread awareness that the offensive creek name is finally getting a name change after the past 100 years. And with the article Prabhu’s tone seems to be appreciative due to the name change. The Atlanta Journal Constitution article is written by Maya T.
