Bluestein refers to when President Donald Trump came to Atlanta to view the College Football Playoff National Championship at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Monday, January 8, 2018. And also talks about what happens after his arrival.
Bluestein appeals to pathos about how the people of Atlanta feel about Trump using the mixed signals of the crowd as one then mentioning the protesters outside the stadium showing their disapproval of him being in Atlanta even some waving impeachment signs. He provides more examples of when Trump had tweeted about Atlanta saying, “the congressional district that spans the city is in “horrible shape and falling apart (Paragraph 10).” Using all of these past transgressions that have been laid against Trump, Bluestein uses this to his advantage to make the people of the Atlanta area feel as if they had felt attacked or personally insulted. The way that Bluestein has written this article alludes to the fact that he might not like or support Trump and aiding in this point he seems to have a subtle caustic tone throughout the article being very critical of Trump's presence in Georgia or just Trump in general. The author’s purpose is to inform the people of Atlanta or people that want to know about what had happened during or after the game involving the President and there seems to be an underlying purpose to scrutinize Trump as well. Bluestein organizes the article like a timeline from the start of the game and then branching off into broader topics that happened after the game.
